1981 square body truck

My first vehicle was a 1981 Chevrolet c10 pickup I had it from high school owned it for 13 years until my second child was born. We sold the old truck and bought something more practical. Years later 14 to be exact during covid we wanted to do a project with my 2 sons. I was hoping they would enjoy wrenching on a project with me. We searched all over finally found something perfect for us a 1981 GMC 1/2 ton almost a twin of my first truck. We bought it sight unseen and drove 7 hrs 1 way with a car hauler trailer to get. Now this was a non-running 1/2 taken apart project. Parts were in the box of it. We drove home with a project. We tore it apart, wrenched on every bolt possible. Got the original motor running, with a few new parts. We rebuilt the suspension and lowered it. The rear springs were 40 years rusted in place and used everything possible. I showed the boys a can of wd40 we used the whole can on the spring bolts and because it’s finer than the rust control products I had it worked.we got the rear suspension apart and was able to save cutting them off. I used this on the box bolts and under the hood for hood cables, park brake cables or anything that needed attention. While wearing my blue wd40 t shirt! We put the motor back together, welded the sheet metal, and re-installed the box and got it ready to paint. We painted it ourselves and got it out driving. My oldest took pictures of his gr12 grad in it and we take it out to local car shows. This is a great product and I always keep a can handy in the garage.
