1998 Wilderness Camper

1998 Wilderness Camper

We bought a camper last May in hopes of having a summer filled with fun and adventure as we hoped to upgrade from our tenting trips. The joy was short lived as when we got it home my wife walked to the back and fell right through the floor. From the axles back was completely rotten and 4ft up the rear exterior walls. The front wall was also water damaged from a poorly sealed window. We then spent the entire summer stripping it down and rebuilding the floor, the walls, and the furniture. We got to the point where we were ready to haul it to its winter home and found that all 4 hubs were shot and we needed new axles as these hubs were obsolete. This is where WD40 came to the rescue. I used it in removing all the old bolts and hardware from the axles and couldn’t have done it without some lubricating magic. We hope that restoring this camper will bring many more years of joy! Painted cabinets, new vinyl plank flooring, all new panelling, trim, backsplash, new beds, upgraded lighting, new and improved layout, and weather sealing all around should keep this girl alive for many more years. Now this spring we are doing some final touches and here’s hoping she will be rolling down the highway in June on our first camping trip nearly a year later than we had hoped.
