Stubborn Iron Rest

The iron rest on my ironing board has never slid out easily and it is time to remedy that.

Step 1

The iron rest on my ironing board does not slide easily and I have to force it out so I decided to fix it with WD-40. First I remove the cover and pad so that they do not get soiled.

Step 2

I make a really hard pull and remove the iron rest from the ironing board and spray it with WD-40. I rub it in and remove the excess.

Step 3

Next I tip the ironing board and spray the iron rest runners underneath with WD-40 and again wipe away any excess.

Step 4

I reinsert the iron rest and test it repeatedly. It slides in and out smoothly and without any squeaks. I am delighted with the success of my project.
